Private Debt Recovery

Our Debt Recovery Department provides expert legal advice and assistance to our clients who require our help to recover outstanding debts from individuals and third party companies.

Debt recovery can be challenging and time-consuming when you are not familiar with the process.

Our Debt Recovery Department provide a clear and structured approach in assisting clients to recoup debts. We understand the difficulties that can arise where debts are contested, and we will be able to help you if matters are taken to court.

We offer a personal, single-point contact service which minimises both hassle and confusion, which maximises achieving success within a reduced timeframe.

We have a proven track record in recovering outstanding debts in a firm but fair manner.

Whether you are an individual or a business seeking assistance with debt recovery, our Debt Recovery Department offers a ‘fixed fee’ for the first consultation. The cost for our fixed fee consultation is £100.00+VAT.

This fixed fee includes:

  • First hours work
  • Consultation
  • Letter of advice
  • Idea of cost to pursue the debt
  • Where applicable, the Letter Before Action will be included (see below)

The £100+VAT fee includes one hour’s work and if your consultation takes no longer than thirty minutes, the fee will include your first Letter Before Action within the fee charged.  If the consultation is longer than thirty minutes an additional cost of £25.00 will be charged for the Letter Before Action.

During your consultation, you will be provided with a costing draft which will give you a clear indication of the costs that may be involved.

More often than not, the sending of the ‘Letter Before Action’ has a positive effect, recovering a response and thereafter leading to an Agreement between you and the Debtor regarding repayment without further action being required. When that does not happen, we are able to provide a litigation service to assist through the issuing of Court proceedings.

We understand that taking steps to recover a debt can seem daunting. We are very proactive and extremely customer focused, ensuring that our clients are kept up to date on the progress of their matter. We always have your best interests in mind and will provide expert advice on the best options available for maximising recovery.

As well as debt recovery we can also assist with resolving disputes. Often a debt can be the result of a dispute. We can help identify the best possible solution to resolve the dispute.

Here are some of the types of debt recovery work we have recently undertaken:

  • Unpaid Bills
  • Faulty Goods
  • Breach of Contract
  • Failure to Supply Agreed Services
  • Poor or Incomplete Workmanship

This is not an exhaustive list; if you are owed money then you may have a claim. If you have a question regarding the recovery of a debt of if you wish to provide an instruction then please contact the Debt Recovery Department to discuss these.

“Excellent service from start to finish. I was quite nervous about the whole experience as it was all new to me but everything was made straightforward and understandable.

Helen Townsend was a pleasure to deal with and made me feel at ease with any query I might have had. I would definitely use Lamb & Holmes again if the situation arises”.
