About Us

Lamb & Holmes is one of the oldest firms of solicitors in Northamptonshire. In 1813 at a time when Europe was in turmoil and Napoleon's armies were being doggedly driven out of Spain and Central Europe, the practice at West Street Kettering was founded by Henry Lamb.

Henry Lamb was a leading citizen in nineteenth century Kettering; in 1832 he was appointed Clerk to the Kettering Magistrates, an office which thereafter was held by the Lamb family for more than 140 years.

In 1880 Charles Woodcock Stringer joined the practice which then became known as Lamb & Stringer. Later in 1939 the practice aquired it’s present name when Tony Holmes and John Lamb became Partners. In 1959 the practice expanded and our Corby Office was opened by Colin Bennett. He was appointed Clerk to the Corby Magistrates.

In the 1960s the firm expanded by extending the Kettering Office into the neighbouring property, Westbury, which was previously the Lamb’s family home.

Lamb and Holmes continue to practice in Kettering and Corby. In order to ensure that we are able to provide a modern and efficient service to our clients, our Corby office moved in 2008 to new purpose built premises which are more suitable to our needs and more convenient for clients.

The practice has seven partners, supported by approximately thirty members of staff.
